Lockitron is a system that allows you to open your door with your phone. You can let friends in to your home without giving them a key, imagine you being on the other side of the world opening your door for someone instantly. The system works by sending a signal trough the Lockitron server to a small device plugged in to your router. And this device gives the command to the door to open it.
Lockitron is compatible with most common lock styles, even with a buzzer. You can order a self-install kit on their site. The company claims the system is more secure then RFID card because it uses your phone to identify you, and this is the biggest problem i have with it.
With all the hacking going on these days i have some problem relying only on digital security alone. To me a combination of both phone and key would be the best option if security is the priority. This will lose the advantage of not having your key with you, the 'one less thing in your pocket' phrase would not fit anymore. And i don't know about you guys but it happens quite some times that i leave my house without my phone charger and therefore end up with a empty phone battery.. i wonder what the company has in mind to relief me of my worries that they undoubtedly can.

RFID is not safe at all, saying something is more secure then RFID means nothing...
That's interesting. Like the video says, it's the future! Yes, the hacking is a possibility, but it's still new, there will be ways to counter that in the very near future, I'm sure. Love it.
I still don't get what's so hard about keeping a house key on your keyring. This would just cause so much stress if you lost your phone...
I always thought this seemed dangerous.
im sticking to the old fashioned way
An interesting concept, but the security issues would trouble me if I had this on my own door.
I don't know if it's the same exact product, but something similar was already hacked at a White Hate conference.

yeah i agree, too much hacking for me to use this
even i could probably fake it.. i say... NO, until things get way more secure
meh, i wouldn't try it anyway. following
Yeah, I agree with pretty much everyone here. Hacking is too big a concern for me. I guess what you could do is install a key pad lock, with the phone acting as an authenticator, but then that would be like adding an extra unnecessary step.
there are so many ways to abuse this.
I don't know what to think of this.
i love this new website its really great!!!
That sounds like a pretty amazing tool! :)
I leave my house open with the big dog! works much better, I suggest everyone to try that!

That's incredible, haven't heard of this before. But yeah, like you say, security is a bit of a worry with it.
Good concept I guess, but not exactly practical security-wise.
looks really convenient
sounds like a cool gimmick but not very secure...then again i can pick a standard pin & tumbler lock in about a minute with improvised tools. So this seems a little more secure than that...but I agree it would suck if your phone died and you had no way to recharge it.
still a really cool though
